About us
We pride ourselves in offering expert tuition from professionally trained and qualified teachers who encourage pupils to fulfil their creative potential. Classes are fun and provide excellent grounding in dance with opportunities to perform in shows at the Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch. We aim for high standards in exam work and look to instill in all our students a sense of achievement and a delight in performance. We also enter a one act play in Drama Festival each year. The Studio Dance is a friendly, long established, school where past pupils regularly return to us, bringing their children for us to teach, reflecting the school's strong sense of family
A Brief History
The Studio Romford (formerly the Laura Faulkner School of Dance and Drama) was founded by Laura Faulkner and Gillian Hembury in 1974. When the Romford Branch of Bush Davies Schools closed the full time students were relocated to the sister school in East Grinstead and the Junior pupils continued their training at Victoria Road.
The address of the Bush Davies school was, at the time, The Studios, 31, Eastern Road Romford, hence the present name of our school adopted after Miss Faulkner’s retirement in 2009.
